Raranga (Traditional Maori Weaving)
Learn to weave from putiputi to kete and much much more. Our tutor will take you through the
traditional methods of preparing your harakeke (flax), weaving and dyeing, with the opportunity to
create your own contemporary pieces.

Korowai (Feather Cloak)
This is a new course offered to participants an opportunity to make your very own mini
Korowai (feather cloak). Our tutor will take you through the ideology of wairua,
techniques for making Korowai and terminology used.

Te Reo Me Ona Tikanga Maori
Improve your Te Reo Māori skills through the method of Te Atārangi. Be able to recite
your Whakapapa, Whaikorero, learn waiata, karakia and converse in Te Reo Māori.

Certificate in Adult Literacy Tutoring - Level 5 (CALT)
Obtain the Certificate in Adult Literacy Tutoring (NZQA Local Course Approved) through facilitated training courses
and workshops that cover:
- The historical and contemporary contexts of adult literacy provision in Aotearoa
- Adult learning and tutoring
- Literacy tutoring strategies
- Planning, assessment and evaluation
National Certificate in Adult Literacy Education (Educator) - Level 5 (NCALE)
This is an opportunity for prospective and/or existing adult literacy educators to obtain the NCALE, which aims to
recognise specialist knowledge in adult literacy education and raise the standard of tuition in adult literacy and
foundation education nationwide.
